Our client is one of the largest international oil and natural gas service companies. The company provides products and services for drilling, evaluation, completion, production and intervention of oil and natural gas wells, along with pipeline construction and commissioning.

Case

Client merged a similar company with it after the acquisition. The newly acquired company's data warehouse was built using the ETL tool DataStage. But our client is using Informatica as ETL tool for all the DW uniformly. So, our client wants to convert all the DataStage jobs of the new company to Informatica as a standard guideline across their organisation.

Our Involvement

Yoda InfoTech’s Informatica center of excellence have given the solution as new development of Informatica mappings to reflect the functionalities of the DataStage. Our scope includes the recoding of DataStage jobs to Informatica mapping, testing, and deployment to production. To ensure that the functionality of the existing DS application is implemented similarly in the new system with Informatica, we followed three way functionality assurance procedures. First one is to prepare the functionality document of the existing application. This will give the relation between the DataStage jobs and the sequences execution. Based on this document, the development will be done.

Secondly functionality assurance procedure is written and technical test cases are created based on the functionality document prepared earlier. Exceptional test cases are also taken into account. All the test cases are thoroughly tested and documented to the client satisfaction. Third one is comparing the data generated by DataStage with the data generated by Informatica taking the same source systems for the historical load and the incremental load.
