Client

A Fortune 500 corporation has revenue of more than $13 billion and in 2014 was named among the 100 Best Corporate Citizens by Corporate Responsibility Magazine.

Our client’s restaurant brands are the global leaders of the chicken, pizza and Mexican-style food categories.

Case

Client will receive huge number of data files and these data are placed in mainframe, where COBOL ETL programs transform the data and loaded them into Teradata datawarehouse database. However, the organization had a very narrow window of time for provisioning datawarehouse updates and maintenance.

Thus client faced complex IT challenge of having to speed up their ETL processes, while reducing their data warehouse update time.

Our Involvement

Yoda InfoTech’s Information Management practice and expertise resolved the clients issue by using IBM DataStage and by harnessing the power of DataStage parallel framework architecture. Our team performed analysis on existing ETL programs and understood the client source systems and the transformation rules and the datawarehouse update strategies. Our DataStage team created the ETL specifications with data mapping and designed, developed the DataStage ETL jobs with IBM Netezza as target datawarehouse database.

In the conversion process lot of separate steps in existing COBOL programs are combined as single step in DataStage job which helped to reduce the run time a lot. As always we enforced DataStage best practice and IBM standards in the implementation which enhanced the jobs.
